The temporärhaus is looking for a new location!

The temporärhaus is looking for a new location!

The temporärhaus is looking for a new home in Ulm or Neu-Ulm. Our interim use in the former Sport-Sohn building in the city center of Neu-Ulm ends in 2026, so we are once again looking for a suitable space that can be used long-term from at least 200 m², where we can again have a larger room for workshops and lectures and also operate our workshop alongside it.

If anyone can offer us such spaces or has any leads, we would be happy to receive a message at kontakt@temporaerhaus.de.

Initially, we were searching together with our fellow tenant association Haus der Nachhaltigkeit. However, they have since found a place (which makes us very happy!), so we are currently continuing the search on our own.

Our Requirements

Summary
  • From at least 200 sqm, preferably more (>= 400 sqm)
  • Long-term
  • Accessibility (preferably ground level)
  • Lecture room for events
  • Wood workshop and electronics labs (operation in the evenings)
  • 24/7 access
  • Stable funding available thanks to funder Wikimedia (“Wikipedia”)
In Detail

Generally speaking: Everything is open to discussion and we are happy to view potential properties. If, for example, 4 out of 5 important points are met but one is not, we will probably still find a way to work it out.

  • Floor space of at least 200 sqm. Best case would be 500 sqm.
  • Long-term rentable. Preferably 10 years plus.
  • Stable funding available via Wikimedia Deutschland (“Wikipedia”).
  • Accessibility (a funding requirement). At least one accessible toilet. Joint renovation possible.
  • Easily reachable by public transport or bicycle. Centrally located would be nice, but we are also open to the outskirts of the city if suitable.
  • (A few) parking spaces would be nice, but not a must.
  • At least one larger room for (speaking) events for approx. 30-50 people, with seating arrangements possible. Additional rooms for offices.
  • Possibility for a wood workshop and electronics labs. Ventilation, machine operation (saws, laser cutters, etc.) on approx. 1-2 days per week after 5 PM. Preferably located on the ground floor or with a freight elevator (because of larger machines, e.g. panel saw).
  • Shop windows or possibilities for outdoor advertising would be great.
  • 24/7 access on all days of the week (no reception or access only after registration)
  • Buildings with interior heritage protection and/or lacking possibilities for (jointly agreed) renovations are often not suitable, but depending on the case not necessarily a deal-breaker.
  • Important, but usually a given: Good internet connection, good heating, dry, good sanitary facilities and plumbing, good electrical wiring (three-phase/high-voltage current would be appreciated).

Who we are and what we do

For us, it’s all about everything digital, from the technology itself to the social and political aspects. The bottom line is that, in addition to lectures and meetings, we also offer open workshops including a wood workshop, a “soldering lab” for electronics tinkering, 3D printers, a laser cutter, and many other tools and materials so you can get creative right away and start implementing your own ideas. All of this was available to the entire community several times a week on our open evenings.

However, the workshops are just one infrastructure that we are happy to offer. Above all, it’s about getting into conversation, exchanging knowledge, and having the opportunity to gain experience with digital technology and everything human-related around it. To this end, in addition to the open evenings, we have so far also often offered free workshops, some of which are specifically aimed at children and young people, or are simply open to interested people of all age groups. Further information about what we do and who we are can be found on these websites and in our wiki.

We would be delighted if suitable premises were offered or recommended to us. To do so, please simply contact us directly: The Location Search team can be reached at kontakt@temporaerhaus.de — that’s Karo and Matthias.
