8 years ago, one of the first network meetings of the jugend hackt community took place at the Weinhof in Ulm with just a handful of participants. This year, we welcomed more than 40 people into our space for the annual network meeting of volunteer and full-time community members at the temporärhaus.

People came to the temporärhaus in Neu-Ulm from all over Germany and Austria – from Salzburg via Heilbronn, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Hamburg and Berlin all the way to Schwerin.

Over 3 days from Friday to Sunday, the community worked on topics, discussed and planned. With good vibes, delicious food and cold drinks from our vending machines, the days passed far too quickly.

Experiences were shared, plans for the future forged, and societal topics discussed – such as how to deal with AI, how to convey net policy content, or how to position jugend hackt within society.

Thanks to the diverse possibilities our temporärhaus offers, it was always easy to retreat into working groups despite the large group size. From the salon with stage, projector and audio equipment, to the meeting room and living room, all the way to the courtyard with deck chairs: there was always a spot to be found for productively working through individual topics in good spirits.

The organizers from the Berlin team were delighted with the existing infrastructure required for weekends like this. From pinboards and facilitation kits to sparkling water makers, hot and cold beverages – everything you need for such an event was on hand.

During the breaks, the possibilities of the building were explored and, spontaneously, patches featuring Ulm sparrows were produced on the embroidery machine as gifts for the children who had stayed at home.

On Saturday evening, we took the participants on a city tour through Ulm’s old town and had some ice cream.

In the evening, we switched on the party lighting, listened to music and played games. After the official program, people could continue having engaging conversations together at the temporärhaus in a cozy atmosphere.
